Alecia Elliot - "You wanna What" Music Video task

imgres.jpg

This task was set in order for us to get used to the way in which a music video is cut up and lip-synced to a music track, in this case it was "You Wanna What" by Alecia Elliot.

What is lip-syncing?

Lip-sync or Lip-synch (short for lip synchronization) is a technical term for matching lip movements with voice or music.
We were given a lip-sync video that had already been made by some past long road students who produced a lip-sync music video for this song around 4-5 years ago.

We were given clips for their music video and were then asked to put the clips in a sequence which had to go in line with the video footage, in other words we had to make sure the music was synced up correctly to the video, and also that it was cut at the correct points to make the music video fluid and flow with the music / rhythm.

We had to edit / produce the lip-sync video on a program called Final Cut Express.

Once we had synced the music correctly with the video we then set on snipping the clips up and making "cuts" where we thought were necessary and made the music video look more fluid and flowing with the rhythm of the track.

When the video was completed we saved the project onto the mac desktop.

Here is a screen grab from the editing process of you wanna what (lip-sync activity) :
