Digipack magazine advert / poster

I have produced a magazine advert for my digipack. This advert would be shown in music magazines that are not that well known, for example local gig guides or local pub news leaflets etc. Due to Alison (artist) not wanting to become 'over popular' I believe that by publishing the advert in local leaflets / magazines is perfect for what she wants as it is not going to make her 'over popular' but will get her a few gigs / live music events for her to play at in the surrounding areas to where she / I live etc.

For the poster I tried to reflect Alison's style of music and style of persona. I chose to do the same colour scheme as I did with the actual digi-pack so that customers can relate the digi-pack with the poster when they purchase it or when they are looking out for it in shops etc. I tried to keep the advert / poster as simplistic as possible but still show hints that it is professional. After talking with Alison we both decided that this idea would work and so I went forward with the idea and made the poster for my digi-pack.

Here is the image that I decided to use for the poster:

Shown below is the final magazine advert / poster image:

DVD / CD digi-pack

I have placed the front cover image onto my DVD / CD template for my digi-pack. I have also created text and a barcode on the template / digi-pack to represent what the product would look like if it was sold in music shops etc.

Shown below are a few screen shots of the editing process of my final digi-pack template:

Making my digi-pack (Front Cover)

In todays lesson at Long Road I carried working on my digi-pack (front cover image).

I decided that the font on the first edit was not effective enough and did not relate to Alison's style of music, so therefore I changed it. I browsed on the website called 'DA-Font' where there is an archive of thousands of fonts. I mainly looked at the following 3/4 font packages / sections:

Front cover - digi-pack so far..

This is how the front cover for my digi-pack looks so far:

I still need to add the other information and barcode etc and also add some final touches to the image of Alison and the title to make it look more profesional before the front cover is ready to print.

Image (edit) for front cover (Digi-pack)

I have edited the front cover image of Alison for the digi-pack front cover. I soon found that the silhouette effect is not the correct effect for both the digi-pack and artists taste. After disscusion with Alison we both decided that the effect did not look good for her image and she wished for more of her facial expression / style to be seen but at the same time be done in such a way that it is still mysterious.

Shown below are a few screen shots from the editing stage of the front cover image (Alison) :

Image for the front cover of my digi-pack

I have decided to use this image of Alison:

Ive decided to use this image of Alison as it shows the artist in a natural form and is not too posed. Basically I like this photo because it shows the artists 'raw' emotions within the photo and also strongly reflects her style by what she is wearing. The bunch of flowers that she is holding is also a strong sign of what Alison's style is and also what her music is like. Many of Alisons songs are to do with life and nature and this is revealed to the audience by Alison holding the flowers.

I hope to edit this photo in order to creat a mysterious image of the artist which does not give too much of her image away, which will of course add to the mysterious look of the album / artist, which is key to what both I and the artist wish to achieve within the digi-pack front cover etc.

Idea for the front cover of my digi-pack

Here is a rough idea of what I wish my front cover of my digi-pack to look like:

On the photo you can see a simple image of Alison (the artist) which will be edited in such a way that makes her seem mysterious and unknown (maybe a silhouette?) Also on the image is the title of the album / digi-pack which will be 'Crystal Poison' as this is Alisons first song and after discussing with her we have decided that 'Crystal Poison' would be a good title for the album / digi-pack. Also on the image you can see (other information and bar code) The other information will be the date that it was made, the production company of the DVD / CD and some other institutional information (which will be expanded within the booklet inside the digi-pack) and of course thd barcode is so that the digi pack can be sold within a vaierty of small shops.

DVD (digi-pack cover / template test 2 )

I have made a 2nd template / DVD cover for my digi-pack, and this time it fitted into the front / back DVD cover very well. So therefore I have found the correct print / template dimensions for when I design the actual DVD / Digi-pack cover.

Shown below is the final template in the DVD / Digi-pack (front / back) :

DVD (digi-pack cover / template test)

After doing my 1st template printoff test for the DVD / CD digi-pack. I found out that the template was too small for the DVD case itself, so of course I will have to re-size the template before I print it off the next time round.

Shown below are 2 photos of my 1st template / DVD cover test:

DVD cases for digi-pack (s)

I have recently purchased 5 dvd empty cases. With these I hope to create a couple of test digi-packs and then finally create my final digi-pack.

Im hoping to create a CD & DVD combo pack whereby a DVD and an audio CD are held within the DVD case. along with a short booklet about the artist and her songs.

Shown below is a photo of the DVD's I purchased:

Digi-pack (DVD and CD Combo)

I have found a DVD & CD digi-pack advert for the band Madness.

Orthough this video advertisment does not relate to my chosen artist's style, I believe it does give me a good idea of what a typical video advert for a digi pack has within it.

This advert shows the bands style very well by using over the top effects and crazy looking colours which all reflect the look / style of the band.

I will keep the style / look of this advert in mind and that the style of any advert is best related to the artist.

The advert that I will do is a simple magazine advert as I do not have enough time to create a video advertisment for my artist's (Alison's) digi-pack.

Digi-pack research (template search)

I have browsed through a few template websites, whereby they have many templates for CD / DVD cases / digi-packs. After looking through a variety of template websites I found one which I liked, due to the variety of the material on there (templates etc).

The website that I am using for the digi-pack template is: 'www.discwizards.com'

Show below is a screen shot of the website I am going to use for the production of my digi-pack:

Shown below is the template I will use for the production of my digi-pack:

(I have chosen this DVD template as I believe that a CD will not be big enough to fit every thing onto the front cover, where as the DVD can, Also with a DVD case you can fit more within it etc.. also i wish to do a DVD - CD combo digi-pack and a DVD will be more sufficient for this than a CD case.)

Silhouette effect (tutorial)

I have found a video on Youtube which explains how I can use photoshop software in order to create a sillohete effect which I am thinking of using to create the image for my digi-pack CD cover (front).

Here is the video I found:

CD covers (further analysis)

I have looked through a book called '1000 record covers' by Michael Ochs (Taschen). From this book ive found a variety of album / CD covers which I have found visually impressive and also they relate to my artist in some ways. They each represent different aspects of my chosen artist 'Alison'. For example they represent they way she produces her music and also the way in which her personality is constructed.

Here is a photo of the front cover of the book I used to find the album covers:

Shown below are the CD cover images that ive found within the book :

Buffalo Springfield CD cover

I believe that the way in which this CD cover is constructed is good way of showing the band / artist without being too much in your face. This album cover relates to my artist as its very artistic and also relates to art work / especially naturalistic art work, which strongly reflects Alison's personality.

what ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I will try and use the same effect as this album cover. What I mean by effect is the way in which this CD cover is constructed. The location used for this CD cover is good, with the woodland / nature theme and I will likely base this idea on the photo shoot for my digi-pack. I also like the font on the cover of this CD as its very stylistic and yet again reflects Alison's style of work, both with her poems and music.

The Stranglers CD cover

I believe that the silhouette effect on the image works really well on this CD cover. Its a great effect which draws the audience in without giving to much away about the artists / band, which gives them a mysterious unknown feel.

What ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I will most likely take forward the idea of using the silhouette effect for the image that I will use on my CD cover / digi-pack. The image that I will place this effect on is an image of Alison touching the nature around her (such as a tree or flowers) within a woodland area. Or I will do a silhouette of her sitting at her piano in the woods (a box will be used for the photo and when I edit it into a silhouette the box will look like her piano)

The Siegal Schwall band CD cover

The way this CD cover is created is very artistic and relates well to a victorian type style but shows aspects of the band and reflects their type of music talent which to me seems to be folk type music.

What ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I will maybe use the same effect as this CD cover image and do my digi-pack in the same sort of artistic style. As the victorian artistic style relates well to Alison's personal interests in victorian clothing, books, and art work. Also maybe I could use this kind of victorian style but instead reflect the victorian stye through Alison's clothing for the photo of the image that will be used on the front of my digi-pack CD.

Joan Baez/5 CD cover

I like the way in which this CD cover is a simple photo but it's the location which makes this CD cover / image stand out. Once again it is showing the nature style within this photo, and the similarity between nature and music etc. There has been little editing with this photo which keeps it simple but still looks good / effective.

What ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I love the simplistic style of this photo, but still manages to express allot towards the audience about the music and the artist, just b simply using the surrounding area and by showing the artists instrument. I will take the simplicity concept from this CD cover and produce / take a very simplistic photo of Alison and edit it later on, but I will keep the photo shoot simplistic yet stylish *which will be expressed through in the editing stages of production*.

Junction Feedback (Rough cut 2) (Final video)

Today I recieved feedback on my music video (rough cut 2) from the staff at the Junction.

The three people that gave me feedback were:

Simon Bates (Junction co-ordinator)

Rob Tinkler ( Books live music and comedy events) (Worked in the industry: 25+ years)

Pete Edwards (Organises club nights/DJs etc at Junction) (Worked in the industry: 15+ years)

The feedback I recieved about my music video (rough cut 2) were very positive, here is a brief outline of the feedback I recieved from each person:

Simon Bates: "I like the style of this music video, it reminds me of this guys prodution company in Cambridge called 'Cats & Dogs Productions or something, Very good work and you have obviously worked hard on this, and I can also see that your very technical and good at editing, that is very noticable within this music video, overall very good work!"

Simon later on spoke to me in detail about the Cats and Dogs production company and informed me that Tom (media teacher) knew of the guy who runs it etc and told me to ask Tom for further details about his work etc. (Which I will do later this year / start of next year to showcase my work etc)

Rob Tinkler: "I like this, its a great video, it reminds me of a dream like story, and has a strong story behind it, yeah, very good, like the music track also kind of errie feeling to it which is also within the video aswell"

Pete Edwards: "I love the style of this music video, Great range of effects used within the video, I like how it all blends together and makes a good story line. The music fizzled out for me and it turned into a short film almost which is good and reminded me of some short films ive seen in Cambridge at the film festival etc.. you could enter this into short film compititions in Cambridge, because it works as a short film and music video, overall very good work done here on this music video!"

I am very pleased with the feedback I recieved on my rough cut (2) and I believe that this rough cut will be my final music video work. (which I will choose to enter for the exam) I believe this because Ive recieved positive feedback on it and believe myself taht its a good video and that everything works well within the video so im confident about it being marked as my final music video to be put foraward in the final exam etc.

CD covers (relating to digi-pack production)

I have found a variety of CD covers which I like the look of. Also ive found them to relate well to the band / artist that they are created for.

Shown below are a variety of CD cover images from different bands / artists which I personally like:

1) Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun

I like this album because it suits the bands music well as their music is quite diffrent and also is very strange. The CD cover also represent how they are styled as a band and what they are like personally. The big headed baby image is very 'in your face' which works very well and would sell to many of their fans in shops such as HMV etc...

What ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I personally like the font style on the front of this CD cover as it is quite simplistic but has a hand written style to it which captures the feeling / mood of their songs, it also lets the fans have a more personal feel for the CD if they own it. Its the kind of font which adds a poetic / almost shakesperian style to the CD itself. I will try and incorporate this style of font into my front cover on my digi-pack for my artist as it is also relating to her style of music / poetical views on life etc..

2) Newton Faulkner - Rebuilt By Humans

I like this album cover as its very simplistic but is still relating to the artist nearly 100%. The album cover relates well to Newtons songs based around his last album and this one, his songs are written in a simplistic note taken way, in which he then furthers his ideas and produces very simplistic yet well known songs. The album cover reflects Newtons simplistic ways in which he writes his songs and music videos. During the production of his songs and also performing them he does indeed enjoy himself and this is noticable very strongly at live concerts and gigs, as he is a light hearted fun-loving character, which is also strongly projected through this album cover.

What ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I like the way in which the CD cover is so simplistic yet very eye catching and visually attractive to the audience / fans. I will most likley try to follow these rules while producing my digi-pack for my artist 'Alison'. These rules being: Don not over complicate the ideas I have and keep it as simplistic as possible and also relate the image / CD cover as much towards the artist and her songs as possible.

3) Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams

I like this album cover as it has the silhouette of a tree and the artist (Jack Johnson) It is very simplistic but expresses the songs he has produced and his personallity well, as he is a simplistic person. His music is also about life in general and the tree symbolises life and he is grabbing onto the tree I believe this reflects his overall persona very well indeed.

What ideas can I take from this CD cover and use in my digi-pack?

I like the simplistic style of this album cover which still expresses alot to the audience. Also the touch of nature (the tree) in this CD cover image works well with both Jack Johnsons music and also will work well on the cover of my digi-pack as Alisons music is relating to nature so therefore the image of the tree will look good. Also the image of Jack Johnson touching the tree will also work well on my digi-pack image on the front cover. but with Alison touching nature perhaps a flower instead of a tree. (as this is the image I have used within my music video and will work well on the front cover of the CD).

Research into CD covers

I have found a website called 'cdcovers.to/audio' I will use this site to look at / browse through some CD covers / sleaves to see what kind of designs are used and what designs / images would be good to replicate in my digi-pack for my artist 'Alison'.

Here is a screen shot from the 'CD covers' home webpage:

Digi-Packs (DVD & CD combo)

I have found a killers CD & DVD comb digi-pack for sale on HMV's website, Amazons website, and also on Play.com (website).

I believe that this combo of the CD & DVD on one digi-pack is a great selling point, as it gives the customers the 'best of both' so to speak. It lets the customer / fan of the artist / band get an insight into what their band / artist was like at a live performance or even behind the scenes. Maybe behind the scenes of a music video or a live performance by that band / artist.

I have also looked at the price of the digi-packs for ' The Killers: Live From The Royal Albert Hall (DVD & CD Digipack)' and I was surprised to see that the prices were not that high, considering that in the digi-pack there is a CD and a DVD. The price for this digi-pack ranges from £10-£13. I believe that this price is really good for what you get, in the digi-pack the customer gets :

A live performance on DVD which was Filmed at London's Royal Albert Hall during two very special shows in July, the film highlights how, in five short years, the Las Vegas band has become one of the biggest and most exciting live bands in the world, with the showmanship to match their incredible catalogue of songs.

This package also includes the band's first and only live CD with 80 minutes of live performance, as well as a behind-the-scenes documentary.

The CD in the digi-pack has over 20 tracks and the live performance DVD has over 30 tracks on it.

I believe that this digi-pack combo is a great way to show off your artist / band to the customers / fans, its also a great way to promote the personality of the artist further by doing the digi-pack / DVD etc in the style of my artists songs / personality.

For example my digi-pack (CD & DVD combo) would most likely capture the feeling of nature / the woods and also the fact that my artist is very much poetical and uses a piano in most of her songs then there will most likely be a strong influence from that displayed on the cover / inside of the digi-pack.

The example above is only a rough outline of what I intend to produce, but I am sure that I wish to produce a Digi-pack combo for my artist (Alison). as I believe its a great selling point for the artist.

Shown below are a few screen shots from (play.com, HMV's website, and Amazon) :

So what is a Digi-Pack CD ?

Digipacks are a type of CD packaging made out of card stock or other plastic / cardboard material. Digipacks can flip open just like a book, or usually it has three parts to it, so that one portion of the packaging opens to the right and one to the left, with the CD in the centre portion. Usually, the portion of the digipack that hold the CD is made of plastic like a traditional jewel case CD - the plastic part is simply attached to the paper background.

Digipacks were first created by a company called MeadWestvaco, and their product, called Digi-Pak, is trademarked. However, as digipacks became more popular and began to be used by more manufacturers, the trademarked digipack expanded and now other media production places are using them

Digipacks have pros and cons:

Pros:

• They look nice, and many bands and labels like to use them. The three section digipack sleeves opens up more design options because there is more room.

• Digipacks don't crack like plastic jewel cases do.

• Digipacks can be more environmentally friendly than jewel cases because they can be made of recycled paper.

Cons:

• They're more expensive than traditional liner notes and plastic jewel cases.

• They will rip and eventually the paper begins to peel apart and separate.

• The trays in digipacks break much more often than in plastic jewel cases. There's not as much protection since the outer layer is made of paper, so the teeth that hold the CD in place crack and fall out easily.

• When the teeth of the tray does break in a digipack, the CD falls out of the bottom of the digipack, because unlike plastic jewel cases, there is nothing to hold it in.

• Some digipacks are not environmentally friendly due to the way they are produced / made.

Progress report 4

What I need to do now....

1. Research on digipacks- start with a search on play.com for example, then blog about my research and paste in examples

2. Research CD covers (something I done for the capture project last year) and again blog the results.

3. Research magazine adverts for Cds and digipacks and blog what I find out.

4. Plan my cover- blogging my ideas and sketches.

5. Make my cover in Photoshop (probably on Friday at long road) and upload screen grabs of the work in progress. (I will use photos of the artist other than just grabs from the music video.) (Already started need to finish)

6. Plan my magazine ad and blog the planning.

7. Make the magazine ad in Photoshop or any other programme / software. I must be clear about what magazine it will appear in (such as Q or a local bands music magazine for my area etc) Upload screen grabs of the work in progress.

8. Upload digipack and ad to My blog.

Deadline for completion: Friday 13th 4.00; if you work on it outside of Long road laptops, use a USB to carry the files around

Progress report 3

So far I have managed to get everything up to date. My rough cuts are complete and I am now getting closer to the deadline this friday. I believe that I will be able to get every thing done by friday (including an evaluation of the whole music video project itself).

I have yet to recieve final feedback on my rough cuts from my teachers, and also need to decided which video out of the two rough cuts I will decide to use for my final production, but that will not take me long, as all the editing has been completed and if anything needs doing then it will be an easy job to do so (depending on what needs doing of course)

Overall I believe my work so far is up to date and I am on scedule for completion very shortly, and will have most if not all of the music video project completed by friday 6th November.

Feedback from teacher (Pete Fraser)

I recieved feedback from my media teacher (Pete Fraser). He told me that my music video reminded him of the Bjork video "bachelorette" by Michel Gondry. He stated that the start of my music video straight away reminded him of the same visual style used within the Bjork video. The style that Pete told me about being very similar was the slight blur effect around the edge of each of the seperate shots within my music video and also within the Bjork video.

The otehr similarity between the Bjork video and my own music video was that the jittery / old fasioned look in the Bjork video was mushc like the woodland shot in my music video and also after Alison drank the poison the shots became jittery and jumpy which also reminded Pete of the Bjork music video.

After I examined the Bjork music video I found that the main simularities between my video and the bjork music video are seen in the first shots of the Bjork video and also the last shot of her in the woods, these shots are very similar to my music video. I was surprised to see how alike some of teh shots actually were, considering I have never seen this music video before Pete informed me about it being alike to my own music video production for Alisons song 'Crystal Poison'.

Shown below is the Bjork Music video "bachelorette" :

Also here is the start screen from the Michel Gondry DVD which shows a collection of his media prodcutions (music videos, short films, animations etc..) :

Shown blow is a HP Commercial by Michel Gondry and Directed by Olivier Gondry, This video breifly shows what Michel Gondry does in his spare time / media career with his media productions / work etc.. :

Shown below are two random Michel Gondry videos which I found on youtube,I believe these videos show Michel Gondrys personality well. (Fun, Crazy, and a bit over the top at some points!) :

Crystal Poison (rough cut 2)

After looking back over the feedback i recieved yesterday I set to work on ironing out the errors within the first rough cut, and also set to work on editing the footage that people said needed re-editing.

Here is a brief description of what I have done to the first rough cut of Crystal Poison :

- I have re-editited the contrast on some clips such as the tree, stop-motion shot which makes the tree and Alisons hands more visable within the shot.

- I have added a dream world / glowing effect to the cup (hill) scene and also to the woods scenes, which i believe brings out the whole atmosphere and adds to the spiritual nature of the song & surroundings.

- I have adjusted the sound levels on some clips within the sequence as some parts were louder than others.

- I have also added a glowing effect to the sky in some clips, for instance the tree touching scene has a glowing / sparkle effect in the sky which gives it a sun shine type look which once aain adds to the mysteical magical theme of the music and nature surrouding the location in the woods.

- Finally I have adjusted the ending of the rough cut and also the music track so taht they fade together and also Ive adjusted the audio track because it did infact end to abruptly on the first rough cut so i faded it out sooner to avoid the abrupt ending to the track.

Rough Cut 1 Feed Back

I have recieved feedback from a range of people, overall i have recieved feedback from 5-6 people but i hope to increase this number when i recieve more views on the video on youtube (from college students within my class etc)

Shown below are the comments I recieved and also whom said them:

Paula ( Mother ) : "I love the way you have made it look all wierd, by making Alison jump / jitter from one point to another, very good!"

Paul (Father ) : "Really good music and the effects reflect the lyricks well, overall very impressive video & song!"

Lee (brother / on-set photographer) : "I really like this video! I dunno what it is about it, but i felt everything just worked well together and made a brilliant video!"

Pete (Teacher) : "Wow, This video reminds me of Bjorks music video by Michel Gondry! The footage used in yout music video is almost exactly the same as Bjorks music video 'Bachelorette'!. Very good video only needs a few adjustments here and there!"

Nick (Teacher) : "The fades work well within the video and add to the old fasioned look of the video, overall a good music video, I would suggest adding a few more colours and some effects to bring it out a bit more, but overalll very good music video"

Alison (Artist) :

( here is a screen grab of the email i recieved from the artist - Alison )
- Click to view in a seperate window (Full size)

After looking back over the feedback I have recieved from people, I will now go back over my rough cut for Crystal Poison and make amendments where needed in the sequence. After doing the suggested fixes to my music video i will then save / export it as another rough cut so I can make sure i get the best possible video done for the final cut version of the music video for the song Crystal Poison by Alison.

Crystal Poison (rough cut 1)

For the rough cut video i have put together the opening scenes and closing scenes of my music video which i filmed over the past weekends or so. The footage i shot in both Burwell and Babraham have been very succesful in my mind, and suit the music very well indeed. (as i hoped for in the begining) The fact that the footage was good as it was and was visualy suited to the music there was not mushc to do when it got to the editing stage... or so i thought...

When i got to the editing stage i was first faced with a problem, which was getting the photos from the slr camera and onto my computer in order to do the stop motion stuff, but this problem was soon over come by simply taking out the SD card from the camera and placing it into my coputers SD card reader slot, this then allowed me to gain quick acess to all the photos I and Lee had taken during the shoots. (both on set photos and photos for the music video stop motion etc..)

Editing the footage was a simple task and i sepnt around 2-3 hours working omn the editing of the footage by using sony vegas. I started off the editing by simply importing the clips i wanted and deleting / snipping out the bits i didntwant to use within the final sequence. Once i had completed this i moved onto applying the efffects to each seperate video, these effects were placed on in the following order:

1) I firstly placed a black and white effect onto some of the clips (after / during Alison drinks the poison) and then onto the ending scenes within the woods.

- I chose this effect because it makes the video seem more errie and strange, also it represents the poison going into Alisons body as the screen turns into black and white stage by stage.

2) I then adjusted the contrast on all the clips. (made them slightly darker and more refined)

- I decided to change the contrast of each clip to make the video look more refined and professional, also the contrast change gives each clip a certain look which adds to the strange theme and suits the music track very well

3) I then placed a faded frame around the edge of each clip

- I decided to use the faded border around each video as it gives the video an old fasioned look to it without using the sterotypical old fasiond filter / sepia look which i wanted to avoid while editing as i believe it is over used within music videos and student videos in general.

4) I then went back to the photos for the stop motion parts of the video and editied each photo ready to be placed into the video sequence and made into a stop motion sequence.

- I decided to use the stop motion effect when Alison is touching the things in thw woods and turining them to colour because i believe this also adds to the old fasiond look and also reflects what i said within my pitch about the flip book kind of styel, which the stop motion represents quite clearly to the audience

5) Once this was done I then went back over the whole sequence and made sure it was all in time with the music and was looking good etc.

6) After looking back at the rough cut I decided to cut even more clips out from each video.

- During the clipping stage i decided to cut the clips even more because it gave each clip a jumpy / old fasiond footage look to it, yet again without using the sepia / scrates etc which is sterotypical of the old fasiond look within videos, but i believe that by clipping little bits out of each seperate video is enoug halong with the contrast change to give it the old fasiond effect and means I didnt have to use the sepia / scratches within the videos when editing etc...

7) I then renderd the video as an AVI file and then uploaded it to youtube to show peple for feedback on the rough cut of crystal poison.

Overall I believe my rough cut as shown very clearly the kind of effects and film I discussed within my pitch to the class. It also shows and expresses to the viewers how the artist Alison is in real life and also how she wished to portray not only her music but herself through the video. So overall I am very pleased with the way in which my video has turned out in this rough cut, or though of course there are a few changes that I may make in the final video (dependant on what feedback i get on the rough cut tomorrow in class etc).

Shown below are some screen shots from the editing stage of my rough cut music video:

Sunday 18th October

Today the weather was better, and the sun was out, which meant the woodland area in Babraham was lit up enough for the filming of the 2nd half (last part) of my music video (rough cut). I was unable to start when I wanted to which was at 10AM because I misplaced the tripod clamp (which attaches onto the camera bottom so that it can be fixed onto the actual tripod) When I realized that the time was fast going by I decided to just use my other tripod, the only down side to this is that there is no control lever which meant that I would have trouble panning / moving with the camera on the tripod, but due to time constraints I decided that this option was all i had.

Once I had the equipment ready I then made sure that both Lee and Alison were ready for the film shoot in the woods, for example made sure that everyone was wrapped up warm and also that they knew exactly what they had to do prior to going into the woodland area in Babraham.

We got into the wood and started filming at around 12AM (Aprox). I got a variety of shots based upon my story board (some shots were not based on my story board due to the simple fact that I decided to change some shots around due to the location etc..)

Overall I believe todays shoot in the woods went well, but could of gone better if I was more organized with the equipment and if I done some prior equipment checks again last night then today it wouldn't of been so hectic, but I believe I coped well with the situation and soon got my other half of the music video produced.

My plan now is that tomorrow instead of traveling to Coleridge to edit my footage for the 2nd half of my music video, I will work from home on my own computer. This is mainly because the software I need to edit my footage on is installed on my own computer and not at Coleridge.
